Dee aka Nonna

Dreams are like the paints of a great artist. Your dreams are your paints, the world is your canvas, believing is the brush that converts your dreams into a masterpiece of reality.

I feel like I’ve left a masterpiece or two in many places as I’ve live my dreams working in a career that I never really considered a “job” because I loved it so much. I loved the people and the process and I think working in non-profit organizations is part of what I was born to do. I have had many wonderful successes, but the times when I was the most successful were when I was asked to build, create, or turn-around a situation within an organization or community. I am considered a visionary with over 35 years experience in a variety of senior management positions including executive director and CEO in several non-profit organizations.  I have a history of leading organizations through start-ups, turnarounds and mergers.  Now retired, I love spending time with my grandchildren, reading, writing and traveling.  I do a limited amount of consulting.

If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life, which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.

I am now off on another great adventure--painting another masterpiece--Nonna’s House Productions. Determination, creativity, imagination, ideas are the things we must process to step confidently toward our dreams. I believe that everyone has the potential to be their own hero or heroine and everyone should have the opportunity to play the lead in his or her own story. I am a passionate student, learning as well as leading. I am passionate about many things--family, books, causes, and writing are just a few. My Facebook profile picture will attest to the fact that I also love motorcycles.

I am a maverick because I believe in changing the paradigms when they no longer work.

I am a warrior because I believe in fighting for people and causes that feel they have no voice.

I am a writer because I love the art of storytelling. Whether you are writing a letter, grant, business plan or goals, you are telling a story. Whether writing fiction or technical “how-to” directions you are constructing a story.

I read that you cannot start a fire with paper alone, but writing something down on paper can start a fire inside of you. I have always had a fire in my belly and I now have a full-blown blaze.
