I Want My Money Back

That’s me!

Like most people, I listened to the news reports about the possible government shutdown last week and at the 11^th hour, someone(s) struck a “deal” and “bought” themselves more time. On Sunday morning I listened to the string of talk (news) programs--Meet the Press, Reliable Sources, State of the Union and a few others. There was so much double talk going on they could not keep time and were tripping over their own words. Then this morning I hear “future tax hikes are on the table”.

Do you know that a shut down of the government is serious? Get this, in one of the news reports about what was “looming,” it was stated that all services would be halted; people waiting for Social Security checks would have to wait, IRS refund checks would be delayed but---BUT, if you owe money you would still have to paid and the IRS deadline would stay firm.

It is time now for all of us to wake up and pay attention. I’ve heard this more than once and when I heard it again this past weekend I stopped to take notice. GE (General Electric) pays hundreds of people to work on their taxes or tax structure. They received 14 billion dollars in profits last year, but will pay no taxes---not one dime---not one penny.

“We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.” <Aesop> Now ain’t that the truth. They are robbing us blind and our rose-colored glasses are keeping us from seeing the truth.

Charlie Sheen has been making the rounds in a multi-city tour doing a one-man show. The show is apparently getting mixed reviews from “it’s a disaster” to “it’s funny" but supposedly a great many people are walking out after only a few minutes into the hour and a half show. It is reported that this past weekend someone from the audience yelled out “this is awful, I’m leaving” or something to that effect. Mr. Sheen supposed yelled back “that’s OK dude, I already have your money.

People are still losing their homes, their jobs, their businesses--they cannot feed their families or pay their bills. Wall Street, big banks, big corporations got “bail out” help, but we are the ones who supplied the money and there is no help in sight for us.

As Thomas Jefferson once said “Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct.”   

And so it would appear! 

I am mad as hell and I want my money back.

Let's take off the glasses and see the truth. I'm tired of being tired and scared. When I go to the edge I want to fly. What about you?
